Hearts on Fire Giveaway Hop

Hello and welcome to my stop on the Heart On Fire Giveaway Hop! Now, today is Valentines Day… A day many anticipate yet fear (or worse, hate). I’ve personally had a love/hate relationship with the day off and on for my entire life.

For James Bryant (from my soon-to-be released book Designs of Desire) romance is a relatively new concept, at least for it to be directed to him. But then, to James it’s the little things that melt his heart and speed his desire of Seth, more than the big romance gestures (though Seth loves to shower those on his beloved too).

Timeless gestures are wonderful, like flowers and a candlelight dinner—and yes, men can give other men flowers, huff—but truly it’s the ‘just because’ things that melt me. Making your partner lunch and slipping in a little “I love you” note on top, a drive by kiss just ‘cuz you wanted to, touching the small of your back when walking together, etc…

One of my favorite gestures of love and thought is when my partner slips past me, leaving a fresh drink for me while I’m focused on work. It’s not a huge thing, but to me it shows he’s thinking of me and cares. Awww

So while Valentines Day is supposed to be one of love and romance, I’m looking forward to all the little things throughout the year that show me I’m loved, just for who I am, flaws and all.

Years ago while dating my late husband, my back went out and I could hardly move it was so painful. He was a senior in College then. He took a leave from school to help me with my 4 children. I though it was the most beautiful gesture to make. He was three years younger then me and I thought “what 22 year old would want to leave school to take care of his girlfriend and someone else’s kids ” . But that was the type of guy he was. 🙂

I too think the things you do for each other throughout the year are the most important things but one year my boyfriend bought me a flute – the reason this was so touching was because it showed he was paying attention when I told him about how I had learned to play the flute as a child and how my flute had eventually been sold because I had stopped playing but that I wanted to pick it up again – it was a complete and total surprise. Thanks for the giveaway

  1. I too think the things you do for each other throughout the year are the most important things but the nicest thing that was done for me on valentines day was a friend of mine dropped of flowers on the valentines day after i had lost my parents to cheer me up

  2. I have done a special dinner at home for my hubby, usually a pasta meal since it is his favorite. Feeding the kids a little early and to bed so we can have a quite dinner.

Let’s see the most romantic, was to have a special dinner for two, I guess. Most romantic for me was to have a night that was all about me.

I think just spending time together enjoy each other’s company without the rest of the world being allowed to intrude can be pretty special in this day & age. the story “Gift of the Magi” has always been one of the most romantic

  3. I don’t have a love. yet; but I do feel the little everyday things that they would do for you would mean the world; of course a nice quite romantic dinner, roses, and a special gift would be appreciated to! LOL!
    Thank you for the contest!

I’m not that big into grand romantic gestures. I believe that it’s the day-to-day kindness that we show each other that is important. I try to show my husband how much he means to me by taking care of all the little things he doesn’t like to do like laundry and cleaning the bathroom.

Thanks for the giveaway! I’ve never experienced my heart being on fire by a person but I have read good books that have done it! A good romantic novel is “Outlander” by Diane Gabaldon. Jamie is heroic and handsome and Claire is intelligent and beautiful. Their romance is EPIC and is composed of a true emotional connection between characters!
    Happy V-Day!!

I agree, it’s the small unexpected daily things that mean the most to me. Or surprises that show me he actually IS paying attention! 😉

The most romantic thing I’ve ever read? Gosh, I don’t know… I suppose books where there are gifts and words that show someone truly cares and knows the other person….

  5. My husband took me out on our first date on Valentine’s Day. We had dinner with a nice glass of wine. It was so sweet.

I can’t really think of what the most romantic thing I have read ever was. I guess it would have to be when a character does something that they think would make the other person happy, even if it will make them unhappy.

I think the most romantic thing I’ve read about was a poem created with heroines name, but I can’t remember the book title.

  6. One time my boyfriend, knowing how I like to write and read poetry, decided to try to write a poem for me. He worked really hard on it and it just melted my heart 🙂
    Thanks for the awesome giveaway!

It doesn’t have to be a special day for my husband to buy me flowers. He tells me that he buys them Just Because to show me how much he loves me. Spending quality time with my husband watching movies or whatever is romantic with me.
